I’m a chap, but I really like wearing black eyeliner (pencil and liquid), mascara and eye shadow when I go out on a large one in London. However, I get different kinds of attention and often don’t wear it because I feel like I want other guys to come and talk to me, which doesn’t happen when I’m made up. I get mixed views from my friends too. Should I carry on regardless?

yes everyone is different, don't be ashamed to be yourself, if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks and look at all the bands now wearing eye makeup it practically now in style

Let me put it this way, in simple terms that everyone will understand...
Johnny Depp + Pirate Costume + Makeup = Lots of attention from girls and guys.
All you need now is the costume and you'll be perfectly fine. Everyone will love you for the makeup, and will accept it as a natural part of being you. Eventually you can start stripping off the costume until you are left with nothing but your normal clothing, and by that time they will have accepted you as a man that wears makeup.
Don't worry though. My daughter enjoys raiding the make up collection that my ex left here, and I'm the one that ends up wearing the pink nailpolish. I look like a drag queen by the time she is through with me.
If you think you look good int he makeup, then go for it. Don't let other people tell you what to do or how to dress. If it makes you feel good and comfortable, then do it.

You should do what you want to do, but always be prepared for the reactions of others when you do it.
Measure the reaction of others with the amount you wear, perhaps you'll find a happy medium.
On my personal feelings; Some guys look really cool with eye makeup as you have discribed, others look hideious. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but some things are just clasic and others are just trends or fads. If you get more compliments then you do negitive reactions, you've stumbled on a classic.

If wearing this eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow is who you are then be true to that. If it limits who you meet, then so be it. If people accept you for who you are on the inside, then the eye makeup is just window dressing.

If others have a problem with it, it's their problem. I have male mates who wear nail varnish and make-up. I'm not bothered. It's not like their trying to put make up on me is it?
If people ignore you, go up to someone and get chatting. some people will try to get away, but you'll find that many people will accept you as you are and happily engage you in conversation.
If your mates can't accept you for you, they're not true mates.

Yeah it does sound like people may be put off by the eye make up, wear it if it makes you feel good thats all that matters.

Why don't you wear it subtly then you won't get stared at from a distance, when people come up closer to you they will then see what type of person you are and if they want to talk to you then they will. You don't need to plaster make up on yourself to make you look good. Go on give it a go, let us know how you get on.
