Furthermore, even if i press start again it never finishes the cycle. It appears to get stuck in the 'washing' cycle and not being able to complete the chosen program. I didn't buy the washing machine, it was in the house I bought earlier this year so I don't have any further information I'm afraid. I am in the UK, and more specifically London.

You have a switch problem here. If your not to mechanically minded, no offense, call the Sears repair department. Ask for someone to come out for repairs.

is there anything that is interferring with the washer arm's if so this may be the problem otherwise a sensor maybe the cause of the problems. call a repair shop and discuss the problems with them and shop around for answers at parts stores
