Instead of having Democrats and Republicans, what if there wasn't any political parties? Wouldn't it be better? I asked this question earlier but I guess I didn't explain enough or just some really dumb people answered LOL, some said like we need them to keep each other in check, but Why? I don't think so, Each person is different, if everyone votes just for who they think would be the best person in which ever position they're running for, instead of for what party they are, then wouldn't it be better??

yes you are right. party less democracy is to come. people elect their candidates who are honest, patriotic and progressive and do not have vested interests. this party less democracy was already advocated by M.N. ROY and JAYAPRAKASH NARAYAN of India.political parties do not allow their members to think rationally. for example, if a republican personally is in favor of with drawl of troupes from Iraq, he can not defy his party's policy. in the same way if a democrat does not like same sex marriages, he can not continue in that party.

That's the way it should be. However some people vote strickly on party lines. IT's really hard to tell what some people stand for when all they are doing is slinging mud at each other. Therefore you basically left with just the major issue that the parties represents.

Its been said that President Bush is really a democrat of the John F. Kennedy type. He holds much the same views JFK did. So maybe Dems have been confused all along.
