Is it wrong for a husband to hit his wife ?

Some of my friends say their wives hit them when they quarrel, but they always refrain from fighting or hitting back.
Is there an unwritten rule that a man should not hit a woman ?

No one should hit someone else. Period the end. It doesn't matter if it's a husband hitting his wife....or a wife hitting her husband. It's wrong. If you are so angry and immature that you you resort to ANY type of abuse, then you need counseling for anger management.

The reason they are worried about hitting her, is most places will toss his behind in jail for it without question.

I dated a man whose ex-wife had beaten the crap out of him over the years they were married. Despite having teeth knocked out, he wouldn't raise a hand because he was pretty sure he'd end up in jail.

Yes, there is an unwritten rule that a man should never hit a lady. And if my husband ever did I would sick my 6 older brother on him so fast. But, on the other hand being raised with so many guy's around I also learned the all important rule that my big brother taught me. If you are going to act like a man and step up in a mans face be prepared to be treated like a man. Of course, I personally wouldn't hit my husband i have way to much respect for him. YES! Any kind of violence is wrong,,, especially in a loving relationship. These men need to talk to their wives about not hitting them as well. There is actually a written law about hitting your spouse or the parent of your child,,, It's called DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. All you have to do to be guilty is THREATEN harm to them.

It is was wrong for a man to hit a woman. It is equally wrong for a woman to hit a man. Love is tenderness, gentleness, caressing and "love'n".

It is wrong for either spouse to hit each other. It doesn't matter who hits who. It's still physical abuse. If a woman hits a man, he has the right to defend himself from her attacks, but it doesn't necessarily mean he has to hit her back. This also applies to women who are getting hit by their husbands. It's physical abuse and it's wrong.

If you love your wife like you are suppose to then you will not even think about hitting her. Same goes for her.
If either gets mad, walk off and cool down.
Because you can never take back what you have done and it is so hard to forgive when you have been hit.
It's hard to love someone who hits you too.
