Yes - go to the tools menu - Internet options and then delete temporary internet files - job done. You wont lose anything from the favourites folder etc. If PC is slow - maybe you need to defrag the drive - do this from the control panel on your PC. xx

it's ok to delete those files!
Removing unneeded filesWhen running an operating system as complex as Windows, you may not always know the significance of all the files on your computer. Sometimes Windows uses files for a specific purpose and then retains them in a folder designated for temporary files. Alternatively, you may have previously installed Windows components that you are no longer using. For a variety of reasons, including running out of space on your hard drive, you may want to reduce the number of files on your disk, or create more free space, if it can be done without harming any of your programs.
Use the Windows Disk Cleanup Wizard to perform all of the following tasks to clear space on your hard disk:
Remove temporary Internet files.
Remove any downloaded program files (ActiveX controls and Java applets downloaded from the Internet).
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Remove Windows temporary files.
Remove Windows components that you are not using.
Remove installed programs that you no longer use.
Note
To start Disk Cleanup, click Start, click Run, and then type cleanmgr.

If you go to My Computer, right click on the C drive and choose properties, under the heading General it will tell you how much memory you have left. It also has a button called disk clean-up. If you click this and accept any answer it will work out how much "rubbish" there is, including temporary files, and will tell you how much space you can regain. It will not get rid of anything important. It can take a few minutes but it's worth it every so often.
Try that first.

Yes its safe to delete them. You can aslo use http://ccleaner.com.
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware
Your PC running slow may be the result of spyware on your PC. Use these scans to find and remove spyware.
All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Hello,
Best way to remove virus is to check Control Panel > Add and remove programs. Remove anything that references Gol. Then go into your browser settings and make sure that your home page is set correctly. if using Google Chrome, check your Search Engines to make sure there's no redirects hiding in there.
to do that you need to have a great program:
CCleaner: http://bitly.com/UrARzw
I recommend doing scans with the program above ( ccleaner) , as each one has it's own little 'cracks' which the virus may slip through. EDIT: I would also like to STRONGLY advise that you change all your internet passwords, banking passwords included. Browser hijackers have the ability to capture this information as you surf the net. Good luck, I hope I was able to help :)
Cheers ;)

The windows operating system keeps on piling junk files in the computer and it is our duty to regularly clear them to see that our system works fine. Use system mechanic or Norton utilities windoc or tuneuputilities 2006 or any other system cleaner and regularly remove all the temporary files . These files are internet files, windows / temp directory files , histories of real player and other softwares. Everything can be deleted saftely and after doing this try to defrag your computer regularly.

No. Think of the drives as a dryer. When you take the clothes out of the dryer you are saving them to the drive. When you clear the cache and temporary files you are simply removing the lint (extras) while keeping the important stuff (saved to drives). Note: this is not a perfect analogy, but it should be helpful in helping you realize that you are keeping what you need

The temp file is used to cache information on your system, so if you revisit the site, you won't have to reload certain information. Deleting your temp files might erase your "cookies" which are used to track you. Some cookies retain your login information, like to chat forums, but as for your favorites, those are in a different location. General rule of thumb, never save your password.

you would loose stored passwords only if you remove cookies etc.. (i think!) but thats no bad thing.
You can get programmes that will wipe all temp files, recycle bin etc. when ever you want. These are unlikely to make it run slow.
Open windows task manager and see what it is busiest with, or is it a memory problem, are you 256 or higher ?
