Canada is not the richest country in the world!
I wouldn't say the US is either.
There are many kinds of Riches to be had.
Norway and Sweden have phenomenal health care at that is why they rank higher than us. Dubai, has more money per person than anywhere else, and it is kinda a micronation.
I would say the richest country on Earth is Cameroon.
They have 30/30/30 Muslim/Christian/Pagan rate. They have an amazing amount of culture. And unlike ALL of their neighbors they have enjoyed peace and "relative" prosperity for over 40 years.
Like Canada, Cameroon is the only country that has both (and only) English and French as it's official languages.
I think they are the most wonderful people on Earth, with Canadians being a close second, followed by the nice old Minnesotans.
Riches of the heart cannot be bought.

I would assume that the method used to rank countries did not use resources as one of the parameters or gave it little weight in the ranking.
You should find in the report how they determined the ranking and then you might understand the way they ranked the countries.
Maybe number of palm trees was a factor or some such.

1. Are we the richest country in the world in resources? Perhaps it is Russia?
2. Having resources is one thing. Developing them is another.
We would need more human resources to develope this wealth of resources. Hence, more immigration is necessary.

Wealth does not guarantee good life it is only an advantage. Anyway, Canada is still one of the best countries to live in.

There some highly socialist Scandinavian countries with infinitely better heath care, education, and social programs. There is a more equal distribution of wealth that result in low poverty rates.

It's because our government has been more concerned about stealing from us and giving tax breaks to big companies than developing our standard of living. Plus they'd rather talk about who called who a dog instead of governing. I hope these "rednecks" that are in there now don't learn to do the same.
