Quite what fireworks on the Thames or the Lord Mayors' Show has got to do with Little Venice I'll never know ! ! !
Little Venice is just up the road from Warwick Avenue Bakerloo line station. It is a junction of The Grand Union Canal, The Regents' Canal and The Paddington 'Arm', and there is an island in the middle called Brownings' Island since he used to live nearby. The area consists of some rather nice listed houses, and you can walk along the side of all three branches where boats are moored - they are mostly used as house-boats although they are built as (and converted from, in most cases) canal narrow boats. Along one section there are a couple of 'boat restaurants' and a childs cinema, and there are boat trips from there to the Zoo and Camden Lock on a regular basis. The Paddington Arm (otherwise known as Paddington Basin) has only recently been rebuilt and has now become a large business, recreational and housing area.
On the whole, ideal for a nice walk round on a fine day as it is a nice tree-lined area, and of course, there are a couple of nice pubs nearby. Enjoy!
Apologies to Neil if you mean that there's a fireworks display at Little Venice ! When you said 'the embankment' I immediately thought you meant the Thames. Perhaps you could come back on an edit to verify the siruation. Cheers. J

Little Venice is an oasis of charm and waterway peace right in the heart of London. A suggestion for a romantic walk could be starting off alongside the canal at the north end of Regents Park, and heading west along the towpath until you reach little Venice. You would also pass through all the fun and colour of Camden Market along the way.

Little Venice is a part of a canal. It's not as glamorous as it sounds. It's quite nice but there is a motorway going over it and on the weekend it's a little deserted.
A much more romantic place is the South Bank of the river Thames. Go to the London eye and walk downstream (East) from there.

Tomorrow the fire works display for the lords mayor show should be on along the embankment. That might be nice.
