A best friend is someone you look up to would do anything for and admire always because you are so close. I can understand that you might develop other feelings, because of the bond and love friends have between them, Unfortunately this person might not be in love with you the same way. Be very careful, you don't want to loose a friend. You might have to worship this person from afar and just keep the friendship...

Apparently it's normal for you.
It's not unusual to get a crush on a same sex friend. Most of the time you get over.
You don't say you are feeling the same way about other people that are your same sex, just this one person.

Yep, it's normal. I was in a similar situation and unfortunately, our friendship got ruined. But yes, it's normal.

i dont think its normal simply for the fact that i wouldnt find it normal, but maybe just maybe you may be a bi and you dont know about it? you should think about it and only you could answer your self. =)
