Well, it's basically a one minute-two minute speech on why I love tennis(the sport). I need a really catchy intro so tht everyone will get interested in my speech...Any thoughts?

Other than the catchy opening, I also need a basic plan on how to form my speech like paragraph 1: intro about what tennis is, paragraph 2: skills and value of tennis. These are just examples...but I'm finding it hard to categorise each paragraph. Help me please!

i love that tennis is a very simple game in terms of the rules. very little room for interpretation at a professional level. compare to rugby, cricket, american football, squash...

Tennis is a war against yourself - one of the most psychologically challenging sports i've played.

Probably the greatest thing about tennis - the all-round athletic and other talent needed. you have to be quick, have good reflexes, balance, mentally strong, timing, fitness...

Tennis has also been a sort of fashion parade over the years, more than any sport i can think of off hand. People like Borg, Agassi, Rafter, Wiliams sisters, Chris Evert etc were/are sex symbols and fashion icons of sorts in their heyday.

Perhaps an interesting topical issue in tennis that is worth mentioning is the debate surrounding relative prize money of men vs women. they're still not equal in most Grand Slams I think. An interesting barometer of the times.

Contrasting styles and rivalries mcenroe vs connors, sampras vs agassi, Evert vs Navratilova, Federer vs Nadal...

Equipment evolution - wooden raquets - aluminium - fibre glass - graphite and who knows what they play with these days. Clothes worn - initally women had to wear long skirts, and these days they practically wear nothing. (So i guess a theme could be how tennis has generally been quite an interesting reflection of the values and "rules" of the times over the years.

Professional vs amateur eras...

I love tennis and here is a suggestion on an introduction:

What sport requires that you have the reflexes to return a ball that is coming at you over 100 mph? What sport can be played on grass, carpet, clay, or concrete?

You could begin it this way: It's a simple little ball with fur...ya know, a ball of fur that...no, not a cat...this one bounces.
You take it from there.
