For example, here's China. Everybody knows what is going on, so why does the party have to repeat we are good and nice... etc. instead of simply admitting "We kill you if you resist"?

Wouldn't it have the same effect? Would really people uprise then?

Makes me glad to live in the USA. And you won't hear my griping about it, either.

Let me tell you about the psychology of the people living under the dictatorship governments. In contrast to the idea of uprising which is the thinking of many Westerners, people under the tyrants are so scared and molded by their dictator governments. I mean, people are brainwashed by the lies from the government-controlled media, banned from viewing the anti-government materials, not even allowed to use the Internet in some countries, and forced to shut up their mouths so that the tyrants can grip their powers rigidly. There are still a lot of tyrannies, I would rather call slavery around the world.

How is that so much different than the republican philosophy in the USA? Instead of "if you oppose us, we'll kill you". It's "if you oppose us, you're evil/terrorists/WRONG and we'll destroy you someday". It's the same thing, just watered down a bit.
