that is correct,, that is the living soul.. the breath of life is given by God when a child is born.that is the human life> that small pocket of air will remain in the lungs of the person until they die. That last breath of life>>> that same pocket of air will be the last one to leave the body>>>. doctors have proven this! The soul is alive before birth and to abort a baby is to try to kill that which God has created> These crazy people can kill the body but not the soul!!!!!

Technically, all those eggs in a woman are living cells, and created no latter than one month after a woman is born. So all women have about 2,000 potential lives to give the planet (which are alive-by medical standards) since the day they are born.
I am prolife, but more for the sake of the woman's emotional health. Many regret their decisions latter on, and I don't think Doctors provide all the facts. IT IS HARDER TO CONCIEVE AGAIN AFTER YOU'VE HAD AN ABORTION. Moreover, there are many preventable measures to take though not of course in the case of rape.
I would never justify abortion being illegal. Prolifers need to give up on this and start providing better alternatives to would-be mother. LIKE FREE HEALTH CARE!!! But wait, Republicans are against Welfare.
But to answer your question I would say those eggs are alive before conception and after a period those cells die. Superficially there isn't a great difference between a period and an abortion.
WHAT ABOUT FALLOPIAN (sp?) PREGNANCY. If that child is carried to term (probably won't make it that far), it would kill both the mother and child.
Woman have built-in natural ability to abort their fetus (i.e. miscarriage). Though not all miscarriages are the mother's "fault", when conditions are not porper for a baby, Mother Nature takes corrective measures herself.
IF GOD didn't want abortions, then women wouldn't miscarry or have periods? if you ask me.
CLEARLY, God hasn't been clear on the issue.
Moreover what you provide isn't proof of any kind, even religiously. Actually there are several parts of the Bible that suggest that the first breath is what allows the soul to fully merge with the body and that if the baby doesn't take that first breath (i.e. stillborns), then it wasn't meant to be.
Prolifers need to find better solutions than ramming this 1,000 year old crap down our throughts. I AM PROLIFE, but this only makes the whole issue worse.
Provide support for underage/single mothers, rape victims, and health care for all children (-18) and I think you will see a drastic change. Making it illegal is just going to lead to more coat hangers!!!

I once read a letter from a pastor who said life begins at first breath. I don't understand how life could begin before conception; that's like saying each egg and sperm carries life, when they really carry the potential to create life. If eggs and sperm carry life, abortions happen when men masturbate and when women get their periods.

I don't think this is a question that we, as human beings, are qualified to answer. When life begins is a decision we shouldn't even attempt to make. At one point in my existence, I was an embryo. Therefore, I see embryos as my brothers and sisters. I want to protect my family.
If we draw a line as to what point life begins, will we also draw a line as to when it ends? Will we move those lines at our discretion?

nb: "Before I formed thee in the belly".
For this to be true, the Lord would have ordained your conception before insemination. Infact, because there is no definate time reference, the Lord knew you beofore your parents' parents' parents were born!

Well, I'm conservative. Life begins (biologically) around the 2nd week of gestattion when the cells that form the medulla oblongata are starting to forn.
