I'm looking at spending no more than £200. What should I look out for when buying one? I appreciate your help.

At that budget I suggest a Tom Tom 1

Very reliable, easy to use and with a very clear user friendly screen.

Also Tom Tom have recently announced that you can go onto their werbsite and download Eddie Izzard's voice so his'll be the voice you hear giving you the directions. Should make those long drives more entertaining!!

all the tom tom range are good sat navs, you need a computer to be able to download all the free promotions that you receive with the sat nav, they can also be used for making and receiving calls as they act as as hands free kit if his phone is blue tooth enabled, you can also download speed camera locations onto the unit, have fun shopping and safe motoring

I use a TomTom One and think it's very good.

Make sure that the maps that he will need come with it - if he drives in Europe a lot you can get Europe maps. You want one that can do postcode searches and can connect to the internet and update and get new traffic info.

My husband and I both use GPS on our PDAs my software is Tomtom and his is Miomap. Personally I prefer my Tomtom as I have full postcode search and the software works alot quicker and I feel it is friendlier too. Miomap is more polite (it says please!) but it is slower software and does not allow you to enter the whole postcode. Look into GPS on PDAs, you get two gadgets for the price of one! I think they are better as they are more functional (especially if Wifi enabled too!) and can be used when walikng around town too.

I'd say go for Tomtom with a PDA!

NavMan are very reasonably priced and are an excellent aid to finding a street in a strange town. They start at about £99.

it would have to be one of the Tom Toms. they really are the best on the market and they are very well priced. their are several different ones depending on your / his requirements. best to pop in to a store that sells them and ask them which one.
