Hi,
I am a cancer survivor.
My experience made it hit home that this is the only life I have.
I need to make the most of every day, because it could be my last.

As the time has gone on and I am in remission, the message sort of fades, so I want to get a tatoo to remind myself that THIS IS IT, this is my one life, I want a daily visual reminder to make a conscious effort to make the most of every day, and to live my life fully.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small phrase (5 words or less) that I can get tattooed, that will sum this up?
Not carpe dieme. (sp)

The best I can come up with is 'One Life' or 'Just one life'
'If not now, then when?' would be another.

I'm sure you guys can think of something much better?

Any help appreciated

Any visual ideas are welcome too.
Initially I thought a bracelet around my wrist with flowery lettering as part of the bracelet, saying "one life", but I decided against my wrist, probably my back now. thanks heaps :)

YOU ROCK! That's not the phrase...

As I read your question, I knew right away that you are looking for something unique. something that will remind you, as well as spark others to ask you...

I'll toss phrases (no 'carpe diem') at you, and leave it to you to "translate" them into original writing. Some languages like Latin have slightly different letters that I can't show here. It should be something that you see and understnad, that ALL others won't understand... they'll ask, and you'll pass it on...

This set is Latin, and you can combine / rearrange the words to your satisfaction... Good Latin in cool lettering has a great effect. You can see where the combinations will work for you. By the way, you inspre me. So i'm pulling books, and digging into the Net's nether regions... These are just ideas. Before you choose anything that I list, or if there's a new one that you think of, let me know and I'll double check it. One or a combination of thee phrases with a symboliv graphic could be quite powerful.

"Unus Vita" or "Unus Anima" = one life or one soul

"Solus Vita" = just life

which makes : "Solus Unus Vita" or "Solus Unus Anima"... I guess it's your opinion.

"Nequaquam" = by no means; not at all

"Nondum" = Not Yet! (Gladiator flashback...)

(The 3 V's)
Vinco Vici Victum = conquer, overcome, master, win, surpass, excel.

Ego Vinco Vici Victum = ("ego" is 'I') Ego sounds like Eggo ... yeah the waffles. Vici is Vichy..

add "facio" (have... to bring to pass.. to have done...) and you get Ego Facio Vinco Vici Victum... which lossley translated could be everything you said in your question up there.

Others are "Supero" ( to have power; to overcome; to surpass); "Praevaleo" (to have power; to prevail)

With a Latin tatt, it doesn't have to gbe a sentence, but can be "key" words that MAKE the sentence, and then how it's said.

If something up there sparks you, let me know and I'll try to help.

Whatever you choose from the many answers you'll get, keep in mind that very few tatts are truly original... very few are interpreted as intended... very few spark that conversation... very few serve... This is personal.

Tu Incito! (you inspire me!)

If left remoted, i.e. no different human interplay than between themselves they could have various questions approximately the place they are, why they are, the place lightning comes from and so on. Assuming you're able to secretly furnish them with their easy desires (foodstuff, drink and so) they could probable come to a polytheistic view, a god that grants foodstuff, a god that makes it rain. faster or later they could be confronted with mortality, the two via twist of fate, disease or ailment and that they could question no count if or no longer there is something greater. this could of direction be an exciting test, which although purely proves that guy is calling for solutions and failing to get them on an psychological point, will characteristic this to "invisible" powers that may't be inspired.

"Life"
"Live it to the Max"

Maybe a few sun beams extending from the area on each side of the word "Life" that is centered above the second line. Kinda give the whole thing a feeling of excitement.

"Still Standing" or "Making It Count"

I'm so happy for you! It's kinda ironic that coming close to losing your life makes you want to experience and appreciate it more.
That's what I call a "wake-up call." God be with you.

"seize the Moment" "Make Each Day Count"(borrowed from the movie Titanic), "Once around the Bend" As for images: a sand clock ticking or a hand holding a clock(for "Time is at hand" which you could also use the words for) may work. Good luck!

First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate you on being a cancer survivor. I'm glad your experience has made you change your outlook on life, as well.

Personally, I'd go with "Make It Count"

Best of luck!
