PS3 has two version at launch:

$599: has a 60gb hard drive, external media slots, and wireless capabilities.

$499: has a 20gb hard drive and no external media slots.

Both will have an HDMI slot to play in High def.

Release date is 11/17/06 and the US is limited to 300,000 - 400,000 units at launch. Many of these have already been sold in pre sales. Expect long lines at major retailers that did not pre sell their units.

The PS3 is the most advanced console gaming machine ever released and will also be capable of playing Blu-Ray disks / movies.

Due to production problems, the supply is very limited at launch and Sony has delayed the European launch until March 07 for this reason. Another interesting fact is that as of yesterday 11/9/06, retailers still do not know exactly how many units Sony will be shipping to them.

Anyone who claims to know how many units each store is allotted before today, (I haven't spoken to Sony yet today) is guessing.

it's selling limited consoles. it's extremely expensive compared to other stuff out there. you could buy an xbox and a wii and still have money left over compared to buying only the ps3.
it is a power house but thats about it. i'd recommend the nintendo wii.
