I just got off the phone with someone that told me it was un healthy because i need to take time to myself at times so that i can shut everything else out so that i can calm and sort things through my mind and i cant have distraction around me to do so. He says its unhealthy yet its how i have become the person he has grown to love and being someone that comes from so much trauma that is what has been a big influence in my life on keeping myself together. Why is it so unhealthy to have to take time away from the bs so you can rationalize and sort things through for yourself? Especially when you have a really analytical mind.

It is not unhealthy, and many people need to do this at times. Even if you would be the only person on earth who needs this, it's how you deal with things to stay in balance.

The person who told you that it is unhealthy, is not a patient person and his reaction towards you is far from willing to be understanding.

Is he your lover/bf? Maybe he feels rejected or left out. Maybe he does not want you to take time off for yourself, because you might conclude that you don't need him.

There's a few good answers here, perhaps you can show him that you do wish to be healthy and loved.

Sending you a hug!

I frequently close myself off from the world temporarily of course to think through my life, where I am going in life, how I will get there, how best to deal with any current issues in my life and I too am very analytical by nature. I am also very driven however and often veer off the wrong course in decisions until I take this time to rethink decisions I have made. No, to the contrary I believe this is very healthy and also believe only the person practicing this could determine if it were healthy for them or not.

People need time to themselves to sort through all the things swimming around in their minds. Maybe your friend should follow your good example.
