the Philippines is a country of diverse cultures although some cultures have similarities with other cultures.

There are six groups:

Hispanic - The majority of the population comprising about 72% of the population. They are mainly Christians and because Spain ruled the Philippines, the Hispanic Filipinos were greatly influenced by Latin America and Spain. But still on the core, they are Asians, retaining their indigenous Malay root culture and significant influences from Hinduism and Taoism. These group have 11 ethno-linguistic groups.

Muslim - They are also known as Moros, a term assigned to them by the Spaniards after the Islamic Moors who ruled Spain for some time. They comprise about 20% of the population. Unlike their Christian or Hispanic brothers, their culture is still greatly influenced by their first religions: Animism, Hinduism and Taoism, evethough they are brutally converted to Islam by the Arab traders from Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia. Many of them have some admixture of Arabic blood. These groiup have 10 ethno-linguistic groups.

Tribal - they are the hereditaries of true Philippine culture becuase they are never influenced by the Hindu and Taoist traders, the Muslim missionaries and the Spanish colonists. These group although only 2% of the population composed of 65 ethno-linguistic groups, each comprise of scattered clans all around the Philippine archipelago.

Chinese - They came here to the Philippines and introduced their religion Taoism and it came to mingle with the indigenous animistic religions of different ethnic groups. Many of them married locals and gave birth to a breed called "Tsinoy". They comprise 2% of the population.

Indians - Like the Chinese, they came here as traders. They introduced the religion Hinduism which also mingled with the local religions. Many of them also married locals and their breeds are called "Sepoys". They comprise 2% of the population.

Spaniards - They were the descendants of the creoles, Philippine-born Spaniards who never came back to Spain. They also married many Filipina women and their breed are commonly called "Mestizos". They comprise 3% of the population.

Although the Philippines maybe a one country, it has many ethno-linguistic groups who are still proud of their ethnic group and boasting it to other ethnic groups even fellow christians, muslims etc. A muslim group, the Tausug, are struggling to form a separate nation, although they are the only muslims who likes to. They end up terrorizing and bombing malls and other buildings all over the Philippines because they are still under the Philippines. They even hate their fellow muslims, those of the other ethnic groups, thinking of them as traitors because these other muslim groups are cooperating with the christian majority.

i hope you understand what i've said. :p
