I assume you are confused about the phrase "a run for its money." That phrase means - serious competition. So, this sentence means:

Will any sport in India ever give cricket any serious competition?

It implies that cricket is so popular in India that there is probably not another sport that even comes close to competing with it in popularity.

Well first off the answer is no. Nothing that has come out of India has ever given anything a run for its money, except maybe curry. The meaning of that sentence is, will any sport in india ever give cricket a run for its money...

In horse racing, one competitor can be so much better that the jockey does not even have to ride the horse hard.

If another competitor which is nearly as good comes along, then the jockey is not so sure to win and so has to make full effort.

The phrase here asks if any sport would come close in popularity to cricket, as if it were a competition.

To give something or someone a 'run for their money' means to make a real 2-sided competition out of it. "Will anything ever be as popular?", in other words.
Also, it is an intentional play (pun) on the word 'run' and it's association with the game itself as the main way of scoring points.

giving something " a run for it's money" is a common phrase probably from horse racing and betting sports. When one sport dominates (or horse) that is where everyone has their money (time, and attention).

Something new and more popular comes along and it is "giving it a run for its money)
