Breakthrough bleeding is what it's called. Pretty common, could be caused by birth control pills etc. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but going to the gyno. is a good idea too.

Yes periods fluctuate due to many reasons taking her to the Gyno is the best answer. Just to make sure she is safe. She could also be pregnant as women can be pregnant and have a period at the same time.

Yes, When we see girls w/ heavy or frequent periods we test for pregnancy and STD's also there can be things like endometiosis and other cervical sluffing problems. She can become anemic if this happens to much. Yes she needs to see the dr.

Is she on the pill? Coz I'm on the pill and when I accidently miss a day, I come on and I will still come on when I should even though i had come on because I missed a day...
Other than that, there might be something wrong with her...

I would suggest she sees a doctor ! Especially if it is not the first time this happened ! might be nothing but you better be safe !!

(unless she recently had an IUD put in-- a woman can bleed irregularly & i mean IRREGULARLY for up to 3 months)
