Yes, I read the comment from the director of MI5. I believe it is plausable. As far as solutions, we as the public ar limited, I mean really the majority of muslims are alright, it's just the fanatics. Should we punish them all, for actions of the few? No. However, I do feel that the muslim community in general, should take a little more pro-active approach to encouraging this type of behaviour to stop. They should denounce hate pedalers and encourage prosecution of people who incite violence against people who don't follow their religion. They have done this on a few occasions but more is needed. MI5 says they are following 1600 people, good, hopefully any plots should be foiled. If there are more bombings, it will get alot worse for muslims in the UK. As far as apologies and running away from Iraq, that's not a solution. Those are chicken sh*t tactics, and is exactly what the fundamentalists want, so they can spew more hate fueled rhetoric, calling the west heartless, weak, scared, defeated, and call for the destruction of the zionist empire next. Blah,Blah,Blah. All we can do, is remain vigilent in our own communities and rely on spy agencies to do their job. After all, they already took away our fire arms, so we have to leave any response to the government.

May or may not be true.
But I think it is believable.
But then how many did they have before? or during the IRA terror campaign?
And even with no MI5/6 only about 2 or 3 would become viable.
Telling us to beware of something in the future, like chemical/biological or nuclear, when they have none of those threats today (by her own admission) smacks of fearmongering.
Whether for additional funding or political gain.
I don't find her comments either interesting, useful or sincere.

what you gotta understand is the people that they say will do it,it will not be .ever heard of government sponsored terrorism http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=786048453686176230&q=terrorstorm .Its called problem ,reaction, solution they create the problem or make a situation worse(9/11,7/7,waco,the ocklahoma federal builing ,operation north woods and on and on ,then they get there reaction from the general public which youve only gotta look around you to realise and then they create the solution in which they take the rights of the people through passing laws which the people except, because they think it makes them safe http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-8855754817065491251&q=when+i+did+not+speak+up . now this is all a small piece of the big picture .the scary thing is they release info like what you mentioned and then sometime in the near future, what you said will happen .type in google video new world order and realise whats going on,or just dont bother to be informed, like the majority of humanity .what people have to realise is you cant just sit back and rely on your government and not ask questions because through out history this is how the people end up being enslaved by the government.

What he is talking about is the very real threat of more attacks in the near future. What some people are going to have to realize is that these attacks started on America before we were in Iraq or Afghanistan. It is partly for our support of Israel (which the militants believe is an illegal state given to the Jewish people by Britain) and for our belief in Christianity. Separating from America politically, pulling out of Iraq, Trying to negotiate will not work as their stated mission is the destruction of Israel and all Jewish people, an the total conversion of all Christians to Muslims. Atheist's they just execute for blasphemy

Well...the head of MI5 would know since all the so-called "Terror Cells" are MI5 and MI6 agents! Look at the 7/7 bombers...look at the Madrid Bombers; they worked for the Spanish military intelligence! Watch the documentary "Terrorstorm" (Google Video or amazon.com) and see for yourself!

It'd be more remarkable if they said that all the terrorist plots had been foiled, they'd given up and gone home and we didn't need as much money this year.

Good comment by the box people to drop that on the publics lap at this time. Its almost as if they are telling us that its time for another incident, so by making such a statement they are in fact covering themselves against external critisim when the attack happens (and it will).
Next we will be seeing and reading about "Be on your guard and be vigalent" statements fired to us via the media (shades of IRA activities in the 70's during the christmas campaigns)......all very good but to the average person out there, what are they supposed to be looking for?
To enlighten the masses as to what they should be doing can only be achieived by education...the Government needs to instigate a radical training programme via the media targeting us out here in the cold.....a structured training module programme that shows us how to profile an individual by body language perhaps, learning key abrabic wording for example like "Kumbella" Iraqi for bomb.
So that on trains we the masses can pick up key wording being spoken perhaps by a couple of active members who could be discussing terror actions.
Hints like, prayer beads being sifted through fingers, something that could give a person the heads up that we have a possible vest wearer, "cleansing one's sole is a must prior to detonation".
Don't just tell us that we are under constant real time risk, we certainly know that already, we need to be able to understand what we are looking for , how to react in a possible identification after assessment of a suspeted individual....why do we not have a private number that we can call to perhaps express our concers that we have perhaps seen or heard something that day on the train to work?
Hotline numbers were used in the Province for years, it proved to be invaluable to the security services to gain street intelligence at local level, the only real way to get information about whats happening out there, it worked to graet advantage so lets get a network system started so that the public can call and feel that there concerns are being taken very seriously and not get the usual feeling of being palmed off as happens with your local police....I'm afraid that the average police officer still sits on the advantagous high ground when it comes to dealing with concerned calls....what would a Mrs: Carmichael from Braintree know what to look for in a terror suspect, unfortunately most officers do not credit the members of the public to be able to pick up on something that they feel is a threat to this country.
If you want to catch a terrorist, then you need the ears and eyes of the mass UK population to be out there all working as local intelligence gatherers for the huge churning security system.
So come on the Government, lets get this programme startded straight away, we have seen so many programmes on the TV about the aftermath of an action, why not teach us the basic rules of intelligence listening and action to be undertaken.....
If you put the message out you always get the return you want..
Antiques road show was a clever way to get the riches in this country displayed and tagged, medical programmes such as 999 taught the masses how to save life, and it worked by the response of those questioned on TV, actual people saying "It was because I watched 999 last week"
So why not educate the public via the TV, you will get an awful lot of average people out there very interested in there surroundings and environment, make us feel that we all have a part to play in the fight against terror... its not just a box, military int: game were playing here....it really is a matter of life or death perhaps?
