Try not to wash it too regularly. People always says that we must wash our heads regular for hygienic purposes. But the truth is that when we have long hair, it looks as if we are lossing alot of hair. I think you should clean it up every alternate days, depending on how dirty your head is. If it tends to get very oily and having sebum on your scalp all the time then you have to wash it every day, what I meant is regularly.

people (americans especially) are obsessed with washing their bodies. don't misunderstand... washing is good. it is rarely necessary to wash your hair daily (unless you put a lot of styling product in (which you just shouldn't). you say that your hair is long, so i'm guessing that you don't do a lot of stying. i also have long hair and don't really style (shower, ponytail holder, go). i find that i HAVE to wash it about every three or four days (otherwise i just get it wet in the shower (that i do do daily). if your scalp is oily, you may have to go more frequently. shampooing does a really great job of DRYING OUT your hair. having longer hair means having a greater length of dead, more brittle hair. this means that it is fairly important to condition as well.
i get compliments on my hair fairly often (that is when people get to see it down). i feel kind of bad taking compliments because i only wash it about every fourth day, i condition maybe every other time i wash, and i don't rememer the last time i combed it (combing and brushing causes breakage too). to wrap up: daily is not necessary, the warm rinse in the shower will help distribute oils throught the hair and keep them from hangin out at your scalp (eeewww... greasy scalp). just pay attention to your hair closely for a while, when it starts to get a little shinier at the scalp, or limp feeling or whatever... wash it. condition with a good conditioner every once in a while. you are 19, so you may have to shampoo more frequently to make up for the hormones that cause things like oils to flow from your head. hope that helps and was not too jumbly (i sometimes get jumbly).

Doctors recommend at least once a week. But the minimum is every two days. Too much shampoo and hair gel will cause your hair to fall off. Eventually, they'll grow back.

shampoo your hair every week or earlier if you are roaming in lot of dust. Also use shampoo after oiling your hair overnight for best results and good nutrition. Long hairs will also require you to use
hair conditioners.

Not daily. It will try you're hair out and you'll lose the natural oils in you're hair. Maybe every second day.
