I have known about this since the end of season 2/summer of 2006. LOST is doing this to lure their audience. They hope that this will boost ratings when the May sweeps come around at the end of the season. Don't worry, LOST will return in February 2007 with all new episodes airring every week until the season finale in May. I kinda prefer it this way, because I get disappointed when there are repeats, but at least this way, I can sort of take a break for 2-3 months during the hour of LOST and do something else. I have read that people/critics are skeptical of this method, if it will work and they have said that this is a risky move. LOST does promise to go out w/a bang next week to keep its audience wondering A LOT and to ensure that they will return in February. ABC will heavily advertise the return of the show about a month before the show starts up to remind the audience to come back.

There are no sweeps in Dec/Jan as that is the holiday period and viewer ship is down. Feb is the next sweep period and the last period is May when the shows either end their run or they have cliff hangers to keep you interested before summer reruns.Also 20 years ago shows were shot at least 26 shows, now shows may only have 13 episodes. Another cost cutting move. That's why show like Monk, Entourage, Psych etc.. can draw their series out for the whole year but may only shoot 15 -20 shows a year

Remember how last season they kept on giving reruns. Well we the viewers were complaining too much and they didn't want to do that again so thats why they're doing that. So they won't have Re-runs....Sucks huh? I wish they wouldn't have done that! o well
