Although it is technically illegal, Vancouver police generally do not arrest people for possessing small amounts of marijuana. In 2000 the Vancouver Police Department established a specialized drug squad, "Growbusters," to carry out an aggressive campaign against the city's estimated 4000 hydroponic marijuana growing operations (or grow-ops) in residential areas. As with other law enforcement campaigns targeting marijuana this initiative has been sharply criticized.
Vancouver has a thriving Marijuana culture that includes the political, medicinal, agricultural, and cultural aspects of the plant. While smoking marijuana is not legal in Vancouver, it is not a crime the police spend a lot of time cracking down on or punishing.
Currently there are several local shops that provide information and equipment for people interested in the subject of marijuana. The best place to hang out if you're interested in more information and exposure to the local culture is the 300 block of West Hastings.
There are known underground pot shops as well all over Canada. The fight to legalize marijuana in Canada is strong because of the immense black market and demand in America.

No. You can't buy pot legally in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada. It is still against the law. Sure, maybe Vancouver doesn't spend a lot of time clamping down on it. But they will still arrest you, especially if compounded with other crimes. Buying it, selling it, smuggling it, trafficking it, grow opps, smoking it in public, impaired driving. Any of it will get the police down on you. Hey, if the find you are a nuisance, drunk in the street, they will add on the charge if you possess.
There is no smoking pot in any restaurants or bars. If caught with customers smoking a business will be shut down.
If you read the fine print, the criticism of clamping down on grow opps was the name of the campaign, and making landlords partially responsible. grow opps are dangerous, usually a fire hazard as they steel thousands of dollars worth of electricity. they destroy the houses they are in, and historically that is rented someone else's property.
You have to watch the words you throw around. "Legally" Well there has been years of talk about possession of pot. but there has been no change. And the change they mostly talk about making is that it would not be a crime. Nope, a cop sees you with pot, they'd quickly slap you with a ticket, like speeding or being double parked. You will have $150 fine or more, and less rights when it comes to fighting it.

With its mountain background and downtown beaches, Vancouver has got the rightly attained reputation of being one of the very most lovely towns on the planet, with hotelbye you may have the opportunity to see this amazing city. One of the areas you'll need to see in Vancouver is the Downtown Vancouver. Downtown Vancouver is beautifully located on a peninsula in the Strait of Georgia bounded to the south by the delta of the Fraser River and to the north by way of a heavy fiord hitting far inland. Here you can even see the usually snow-covered stages of the Coast Mountains. Stanley Park is one of the very most visited parks. Is a lavish Peninsula Park of enormous trees adjoining to Downtown Vancouver. A smooth seawall course encircles the natural space, and most visitors take the time to discover on foot or by bicycle. Inland, the park offers many things to accomplish, and guests can invest a full time exploring attractions ranging from the totem poles at Brockton Point to the west shore sea living at the Vancouver Aquarium. Spectacular views certainly are a common throughout the park.

No you can't. If you get caught and searched though, they will just take it away and/or maybe give you a fine. They don't really care if you have only enough for one or two joints. As long as you have a lighter and rolling papers with you, they will assume it is for personal use. If you don't and you just have weed, it might be harder to say you weren't out trying to sell it. If you have a pipe, they'll take that too and might write you a second ticket for paraphernalia.
The bottom line is, they don't really care about users, they only care about people selling it.
