if you are not connecting with the visualization, and your motivation is not coming to you, start something new. You can always come back to the crap later if you find the needed inspiration

Oftentimes, the "crap" becomes the diamond. Making mistakes is part of discovery and those accidents may direct you to an unexpectedly great outcome that you could not force if you tried. Put it aside and come back to it after a week, two weeks or a year and re-evaluate. You may take it to a whole new level then, paint over it using parts of the original, or decide to throw it out. For now, start another.

Keep going. I also take art and I always keep restarting, and I never get things finished. Just keep working on it. You'll get it done.
