How about a little of both, depending on the situation?

For example, if somebody gives you the creeps although you can't pinpoint why, that would be an intuitive/instinctive sort of thing but worth paying attention to.

However, if you "feel" you must have a pair of Jimmy Choos despite the fact that you don't have enough money to pay rent, it's probably time to pay attention to logic rather than feelings.

It is important to distinguish feelings and the mind.. Feelings are genearlly emotions- like fear, love, anxiety, hate... the mind is an analytical tool that is generally effected by emotions. Believe it or not, a person can't really act on mind alone (that would cause totally rational disicions). A rational decision is defined as "an act which benefits the person performing the action"- basically, being rational is selfish, as western philosophy puts it... And most rational thinking is based on short term planning rather than the concequences of an act in the long run, which can cause a lot of problems for people around you. For example, if you are late to work and you decided to speed to arrive on time, it only benefits you, because not only are you putting yourself in danger (but at the moment are only concerned with getting to work on time), but also other people on the road. It would be rational for you to speed, but it's not necessarily a good thing because you can cause harm to others. Therefore, the mind is rational, thus, is selfish. While the heart, or feelings, is irrational, which is based on an emotion- usually love gives best results though. Furthermore, to answer you question, a person can't really use only their mind because their mind is almost always effected by emotions of some sort, wether it be confusion, or even laziness. To avoid selfishness, which in my opinion is the best thing a peroson can do, one needs to act soley on love, which is an emotion, thus a feeling. The more you give to people, the more you will receive, and receiving good can only be achieved by doing good to others, which is impossible if one is selfish because the good that you do to others usually involves lots of energy and doesn't produce any financial results, but it does make you feel good just to be a good person.

We always make decisions with our feelings. Our minds just jump on the bandwagon and rationalize the deciscion. In a final irony, if things go well, our minds will grab all the credit and say to you, "are you glad you listened to head this time?"

There are some decisions that require feelings-ex. Your loved one is in the way of a speeding vehicle and you rush in and push him/her out of the way. Other decisions require our mind-ex. She/he looks sooo good-nice bod', smile, and wants me RIGHT NOW- without protection. Feelings being the final decision maker cancel out reason and common sense and just may cancel your life.

It depends on what decisions but usually going with a gut feeling is the best choice.

The mind is often influenced by too many factors (parents' views/ beliefs instilled in you, moral values of society etc).... the "feelings" is often too "Es" oriented (desires- physical etc)... so, we should always mind both- then make a decision.

Feelings are finnicky so it is best to use your mind to weigh the pros and cons in a situation. This is hard to do most of the time, but if you wait your feelings out, you may not end up regreting your actions later.

Mind. If you weigh up the options from both sources, it'll most likely be the logical one that would be the better of the two.
