Dont worry !!!!
Just press degauss button in your monitor ... it will release all magnetic afect from CRT....
If it fails then call your Monitor technician he may be having some external degaussing gadget .....

No need to worry ... One or other solution will work for you..
Good luck

On monitors from the last 5 or 6 years there is a degauss button--that's the one that looks like a magnet and shakes the screen. You might have to press it several times. If it doesn't help--take it to a repair shop and ask them to degauss it. They can do this with an electro-magnet. Hopefully that will fix it up.
Good luck!

Most CRT's have a "degauss" function in the OSD setup. It should look like a finger with a line through it. (Sometimes it is an independant button) Often using this function several times will cause the unit to reset enough to allow for magnetic redistribution. Sadly there is a chance that the unit is permanently damaged. As a last ditch effort I have known some who used a very strong magnet to "shift" the distortion, till it was no longer there with a smooth constant movement, but that method is extremely iffy and sometimes results in more harm than good.

there is usually a button on the monitor you can press if you get a magnet too close to the screen. In fact it looks like a magnet. When you press the button it will make the screen shake like crazy. That is supposed to straighten it out. If not you will probably have to get it serviced or get a new monitor.

No easy way to put this - time for a replacement

*EDIT* - degaussing the monitor (which is what ppl are talking about with the little "magnet" symbol) will not fix this problem. If to prevent the monitors OWN magnetic field from building up, but will NOT repair the damage already done in your case.

well it depends on what kind of monitor you're using. usually, it's the LCD screens that get easilly affected by magnets as compared to CRT screens. if you're monitor is still under warranty, bring it to a shop. don't open it by yourself or you will risk tampering the warranty seal. if the warranty has already expired, you may try opening your monitor carefully (make sure it's unplugged and you've touched a metal object to remove any ground) and adjusting the internal brightness and contrast at the back panel of your opened monitor. do not touch any exposed capacitor or any other circuitry inside.

If its a CRT monitor, degauss it, do it several times with 10-15 second breaks.

If it doesn't help, you are SOL and go buy a LCD to avoid this in the future
