When people embroiled in a conflict recognise them, they can stand back from themselves, get a sense of perspective (and maybe of humour, too!) and look at their conflict from a different angle. Imagine how an awareness of cultural relativism would affect the Christian and Muslim fundamentalists who think their way is the only one!

A fully grown elderly man marrying a child is wrong no matter what country, continent, era it occurs. This is exactly the point that Darth was trying to make and people seem to be missing! The other point is that because of Muhammad's example back then, we still have fully grown elderly Muslim men marrying little girls NOW! It's wrong, even if Pangel and 99% of the world's population do not agree with me. I don't care if she is menstruating. A prophet of God should know that simply means a girl is starting to develop, not finished. I doubt a 9 year old then (or now) is emotionally or physically able to deal with an intimate relationship in a healthy way. A grown man can literally rip a girl open. How can anyone excuse this?
