..hmmm I have been dilated at 3 for over a month I went into preterm later 8 weeks early... but I am at 3 or 4 now... and it's been like 4 1/2 weeks... I'm having a lot of cramping, and contractions but no baby!... so who knows maybe it will be quick or maybe it will be full term.

I am a nursing student. Based on what I've read, a dilatation of 1-3 cm is the beginning of labor however it is not a sign that labor will come right after. Dilatation of 10 cm and softening of the cervix is the indication that true labor is coming. Be aware of these signs because the preparatory phase for labor is short for multigravidas or those who had been pregnant before. Good luck to you.

Not exactly. You are in what is considered to be early stages of labor. Not active labor. First stage of labor can last several weeks and there is nothing to worry about. But if this is your third it is more likely that you will be delivering a few weeks before your actual due date. Because usually women have faster labors with their second and third etc Prepare yourself in case it starts soon but try not to worry too much. The baby will come when it's ready! Good luck.

ARe you ready for labor? Well, you can go into labor anytime, sure. But being 1 1/2 cm dilated doesn't mean you'll be going into one immediately. Women can be this dilated for a couple of months. It's normal.

i grew to become into 3cm dilated with my toddlers for about 2 weeks, notwithstanding i'm uncertain with reference to the effacing. First toddlers drop fairly early too. in the event that they have been apprehensive they could have admitted you to scientific institution because it can be a untimely labour. i could say purely save doing what you're doing yet do no longer start up something new.

Good question, too bad only the baby seems to know the answer. I was 3 days late with my 3rd child, early with the first 2 and the 4th so who knows. Good luck

Not necessarily.

Both times for me I was 3cm before I was in labour, apparently they call it pre term labour, which simply means that the body is starting the process, making it less work the body needs to do on the day (not that it helps the pain factor)

You could stay that way for a while. I stayed dialated for nearly 3 weeks before I actually went into labor.
