"Do not disconnect" message doesn't show up and theres no indication the computer recognizes it.It works with fire wire but the problem is my lap top doesn't have a fire wire port.I've tried other cables and nothing happened, it used to work fine until i installed itunes 7,so i installed itunes 6 and nothing, tried 5 R's...nothing.
Can someone help me because i restored factory settings and there's no music on the ipod at all...

Go to Apple Help Pages.
They have a section that deals with troubleshooting for iPods Connected to a Windows System!(iPod was designed for the Mac-which Maybe why you are experiencing problems)

check the whole thing on another pc...sometimes if you've clicked on 'eject iPod' when you last pulled the wire off (the last time it worked fine)...you will have to go through a process. If not...then i guess you should check with a proffessional online.
