Americans can come with ease into the US for obvious reasons...we're natives and we live here :)

Sorry, couldn't help it, even though I know what you were trying to say.

Because of the economic status of the majority of Filipinos living there. The U.S. has a immigration policy which limits the number of people coming in from Asia. Also, the U.S. is one of the few places in this world where people do have a chance at a better life, wherean in most countries you stay where you were born. Anyone visiting the U.S. from most foreign countries need to atleast own there own home or business, so the U.S. knows you'll go back when the times up (visa).

It's because of the likelihood that a Filipino will overstay the amount of time that a visa permits, and might stay illegally.

An American travelling to the Philippines is not likely to remain in there illegally.

I think it has gotten harder in the last 5-6 years due to all the terrorism. I have to agree with one of the other answers though, rarely to Americans overstay their time in another country.

Unless it's the crazy government trying to stick their noses in where they don't belong.
