Nope never owned one. We ended up getting a VHS when I was a teen, so I never got the joy of owning a Betamax. I did understand that Beta had a better quality picture, but VHS had better marketing. Too bad too, who knows how the industry might have been with Beta as the leader.

Yes, my first and second video-recorders were a Betamax.
(unfortunately I just HAD to buy a VCR-videorecorder, since it became increasingly difficult over here to find any Betamax-videotapes. I still think Betamax was the best system!!)

Betamax was the first version of the current home VCR. It was released before VHS became popular.

Yes, I know what a Betamax it (Jeez I'm old) and no, I never had one. My parents never got a VCR until VHS was the main type.
My cousin's parents still have one, though, and still use it. They swear that it was the better technology at the time.

WASN'T THE BATAMAX THE OTHER VERSION OF THE VCR? IT WAS AROUND IN THE MID 80'S BUT IT DIDN'T DO WELL ON THE MARKET, SO THEY DISCONTINUED THE MODEL, AND WENT WITH VHS.

I HOPE I'M RIGHT.

I NEVER HAD A BETAMAX.

Yes, early in our marriage my husband and I bought one, in 1980 I think, but by the end of that year the VCR had replaced them because they were more reliable. (We constantly had trouble with our Betamax) Today we are more 'modern' and have two DVD players! (LOL)

Yes, way back when! It was huge, heavy, and expensive at the time, and so was the first VCR we bought. It could have been used as a boat anchor.
