Being a daddy's little girl probably is a privelige that only few girls have...talk about ignorance.
Women who are independant, have to fight for it. First of all I would ask you to define independance. Gender is interconnected with race and class , one has never functioned without another. If for instance a girl is independant it is becasue of her privilege - class issues, many women esp. women of color have to struggle to acheive independance in the society , but at home they are still bound by tradition....
so to put forth an overarching question about women does not cover ALL women. its just an overgeneralization.

No. I think women today are more independent because they saw their single-mom's struggling to make ends meet and learned to be self reliant.

I think girls need positive reinforsement from both parents to be reliant upon themselves, actually, I think their dad giving them whatever they want may hinder their "self reliance" as they get older...just my opinion. :)
