For one, it's just nail polish. I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. What is she decides to have a goth look when she's a teen, will you actually love her less? There are things in life that are so much more important than how your daughter looks. You need to choose your battles with children and a child wearing black nail polish is hardly something to fight over. She's just beginning to find her own identity and you need allow her to do that (to some extent, she still is only 11) or else you are going to have a very unhappy child on your hands.

First: black polish is in this season. It's THE item to have, and your daughter probably just thinks it's pretty. No offense, but lighten up. Second: I'm not sure if you even know what goth is. Why not go to goth.net and learn more about it.

Children only take as much liberty as you allow them. Make it an incentive for her. For example, she must have all A's if she wants to wear it. Or improvment in any other area you think she is lagging behind in.
Also, this season patent black is the classic choice for runway and in the stores, its available at the Chanel counter and is usually applied on both feet and toes with a striking design or a single rhinestone. It may not be what you think.

The more you fight it, the worse it gets. My daughter went through that phase. It look a little longer for her to get out of it that i would have liked but i learned eventually. I fought it very hard at first and eventually went with it. Her "dark" stage is no longer. Just go with the flow mom! Remember to choose your battles, this is only the beginning!
She is starting to express her independance from mom. This will last through 17-18 . Happy parenting.

You could buy her some green, brown or navy blue, it's not quite black (and not as gothy) but, it's still edgy enough to be cool.
