Apparently, Iraq's health minister has estimated that at least 150,000 civilians have died as a result of the US imperialist invasion and occupation of their country.

Yupchagee--the US isn't imperialist? Try a little something out for me: it's called history. Try it on for size. Once you get past the pious rhetoric and comforting illusions about US actions around the world since at least the 1890's, few words describe these events better than imperialism. I recommend William Blum's book, "Killing Hope" as the initial text in your studies.

You know I oppose the war too, but you're projecting your own Western middle-class reality tunnel onto a region that is unlike anyplace you've ever been. You're assuming that there's actually such a people as "Iraqis" and dude, that's just not a valid assumption....

There are at least three separate nations in Iraq each of which has a completely different take on the present situation as well as on all the history that led up to it.

The Sunnis see the ex-dictator Saddam as a beloved father figure. They hold the Arab Shiites in contempt and hate the non-Arab Kurds. To the Sunnis, we're Nazis from Hell and nothing we do can change that.

The Kurds see Saddam the way Poles see Hitler. They distrust the Arab Shiites and hate the Arab Sunnis. They're so grateful for having been liberated from Saddam and the Arabs, they actually like us.

The Shiites see Saddam as an incarnation of spiritual evil; some of them actually think he's possessed by Satan. They distrust the non-Arab Kurds and hate the Arab Sunnis. The Shiites see our occupation as a rerun of the British colonial occupation of the early 20th Century. They dislike it and us, but are ambivalent about how quickly they want us to leave. They want us gone eventually, but only after the Sunni have been pounded into dirt....

And lets not even get into what the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, and the Turkomans want....

i will answer your first question because of the fact the rest is in basic terms a rant approximately your anti-government sentiment. it could quite remember on what place you had in Iraq as to if or not you're delighted with the U. S.. contributors of the Iraqi Baath occasion who ruled the country, killing all people that disagreed with them, are actually not incredibly chuffed that they are actually not in capability. the people who have been being tortured, raped, and killed because of the fact they lived in a distinctive area are probably grateful. even with the undeniable fact that at this element, maximum are probably waiting for the U. S. troops to pass away. EDIT: pink - If any of that have been authentic, it would desire to be a achievable answer. even though, nearly all of civilians have been killed by ability of Iraqi Resistance. the U. S. hasn't stolen oil from Iraq and distinctive everybody is disenchanted approximately it. they think of the U. S. ought to take billions of greenbacks of oil to pay for the value of the conflict. the U. S. has been construction the infrastructure in the country and has further electrical energy to factors that for the time of no way had it previously. And as for chaos and lawlessness, who's it it is placing the roadside bombs? it is like blaming the police in the U. S. for inflicting murders?

1) The overwhelming majority of civilian casualties were inflicted by other Arabs.
2) We aren't imperialists. If we were, it would be a whole lot easier.
3) Ask the Iraqis. I think a clear majority want us to stay.
