I am a life coach and I would like to work closer with teens to find out what it's like for them in today's society. Can any teens tell me what life is like for you? What kind of peer pressure are you getting from other teens? Do you have problems with bullies and classmates? What do you need an adult to tell you? What would you like to be offered from a group on Yahoo!? Would you join my group if I made these things happen for you?

Dear InterestedAdult,

I am an 16 yr old teen who just graduated high school. I am active in my church, I am a virgin, I have never done drugs. Honestly, for me being homeschooled was a lot better then the alternative of public school. I have seen some of my peers talk about getting drunk that one time and doing drugs and they're only 14. I think that one of the things that I struggle with most, is adults judging me based on everyone else in my age group. Regardless of me being abstinent/drug-free/early graduate etc etc. Adults judge a lot! I have long hair, judgement. I talk to their daughters, judgement. I find it hard sometimes because I feel instantly judged. Other then that, it is also difficult being in my situation because I am legitimately nice to people, and they think that I am nice because I want something from them or I am gay, girls are so use to being treated poorly or as a sex object, that if a guy who is legitamately nice, you get ridiculed. Now this isn't everyone only a choice group of scenarios I have been through. Really one of the best things you can do for teens is treat them like adults, so they'll start acting like them. Don't demean them, don't assume every teen is the same, generalizing is a bad habit exspecially for a life coach. Hah, those are my pet peeves anyway. And authority treating youth differently then they treat adults, e.g. "You can't do that! You can't leave the building till I say so!" etc etc, they don't treat adults like that, and they shouldn't treat the youth like that. Check out my source and stay away from doing that as much as possible.

A group on yahoo, hmm, an enviroment where teens can get real advice from people who actually care, that will be an alternative to the average advice they get.

What do you need an adult to tell you, "I enjoy spending time with you and you are a good young man."

Good luck on your new journey,

Ezekiel

WELL...
School is rough...especially if you don't rank high on the 'clique scale'. Me, I'm right in the middle. I may get called wierd or something once in a while, but nothing really bad.

I don't deal with much peer pressure...well now anyways. I'm only in seventh grade, but there are some people that do crack and stuff. You can also tell what people are having sex and who aren't...it's very easy to tell. Me, I don't whatsoever.

I think it'd be great to have another adult except my mom or counselor to talk to. Counselor's at our school are just creepy. They are smiling all of the time and don't understand ANYTHING! They give you the stupidest advice and think we are still in kindergarten, which really gets on my nerves. I'd like to have an adult to talk to that doesn't think I'm still three, even though I am 13.

On a group on Yahoo I'd like to have a teen section...FOR TEENS ONLY! That would be nice. Like...one sectin for ages 13-15 and then another for 16-18. That would be cool. I'd really like that. Then you could have a space that isn't like Myspace and stuff. It can be safe and fun at the same time. Something that parents would allow.

I would join the group if you made that...I'd really like it because the websites that are available are either for older teens or little kids...nothing for teens my age really...more for either adults, older teens, and kids. Nothing for "preteens", you know?

I was bullied a lot when I was younger, from like elementary school until I was in 6th grade because I moved after that year. I was harassed because I was a minority in a predominantly upper class Abercrombie & Fitch white city/neighborhood/whatever.

Oddly enough, I don't get pressured by peers but by older people. I'm 18 and of the 25-30 year old males I've spoken to (they approach me), they're like "You don't have a fake ID?" and "You DON'T DRINK?!" I think my innocent but not really appearance draws them in and turns them on because they want to corrupt me.

Life is rough. like really harsh . I have peer pressure to be "normal" and wear clothes and listen to music that other teens listen to.I want to be "me" not what they want me to be. my school doesn't really have drug "issues" though i know at least 2 ppl who now drink and smoke though i think's only those individuals. i think "bullies" aren't really a prob. but sometimes those stupid preppy people that all those adults love are actually the ones that hurt more ppl's feeling....on purpose. i don't really unserstand the other questions without more details to answer them correctly.

i dont know how its with the guys..but i know how its with girls..
jealousy..cat fights.. boys are more know as "territory" then human beings.. adults need to be supportive instead of goin against everythin we do..dat makes us only wanna rebel against it and do it sum more.
