Would any of you ever consider being hypnotized at a stage show or carnival? Why or why not, and what routines would you like to do if you were hypnotized. Thanks.

SieglindeDieNibelunge, I don't think you needed to be so judgemental when responding to my question. As for what I meant by routines I was refering to stuff you would see at fairs and college orientations ie "stage hypnosis" where the hypnotist would do a routine where he made a person forget their name, or numbers, or made them think they were a celebrity. That stuff might be fake, but that wasn't what I was asking and yes, some people do get hypnotized for things like that. Get over yourself. Jeez.

=I have gone thru past life regression 3 times and it helped explain to me the "me" I am today. Yes I would volunteer if asked. Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself..................I have made a fool of myself in past, so why not as long as I felt safe, and I wouldn't fake it either.

UGH! You really have a screwy idea of what hypnosis is! Someone asked about it earlier, so I'll just Copy & paste what I already wrote.
Hypnosis can be done in a variety of ways. You can even learn to hypnotize yourself! (I've done it a few times). In fact, The Institute for the Study of Healthcare Organizations & Transactions says that, "in most senses, ALL hypnosis is really self-hypnosis".(1)
What IS hypnosis? It is pretty simple, and, according to a site, Integral Hypnosis.com , is a state most of us experience regularly, but for short times and without knowing it:
"Hypnosis is, in fact, the induction of a state of mind that is very similar to those that people naturally drift in and out of in the course of a typical day. For example, the familiar daydream episodes where a friend needs to repeat a question to you several times before you "snap out" of the reverie, or the moments just before drifting off to sleep are very much like hypnotic states." (2)
Some people are more easily hypnotized than others and a few are not hypnotizable at all, according to the above site, I'm not sure why. Maybe they think they'll lose control, but that actually does NOT happen during hypnosis. Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do under hypnosis.
The same site (Integral hypnosis.com), describes how hypnosis is achieved:
"Through the use of suggestion and the cooperation between the hypnotist or hypnotherapist and client, the subject first enters into a state of profound physical relaxation and then into a relaxation of the mind that is at the same time highly focused. This combination of physical relaxation and relaxed mental focus creates a state of optimum suggestibility which makes the therapeutic usefulness of hypnosis possible. The uses of hypnotherapy include weight-loss and weight management, smoking cessation, improved motivation and self-esteem, improved creativity through the unblocking of creative potential, stress reduction and stress management, control of anxieties and phobias..."
Although I've never been hypnotized for these, I did try it for fun, mostly to explore past life regression and as part of a course on relaxation techniques. If you're very easily hypnotized, it is a calming, insightful experience and you come away, usually, feeling both relaxed an energized. I HIGHLY recommend trying it!
As for "routines"?! WHAT the heck are you talking about? That's not why people get hypnotized.
Note: Sorry you took my post the wrong way! You didn't specify that you were SPECIFICALLY referring to carnivals! I thought you wanted info, so I gave it to you. CHILL...or you'll never be able to get hypnotized...and YOU don't have to be insulting (which was deliberate, while mine was NOT).

We had a hypnotist at our high school graduation party. He sent someone off the stage saying they were faking but I was faking the whole time. I don't know if there are legitimate guys, but if there are they are the ones who do it in a private office, not in front of a group of people. I think it's a load of crap.

No. I was warned against such practices from earliest youth. My father was very much against hypnotism, and he asked me from early childhood to never allow it to be done to me, not by anyone, not even in jest.
And besides:

No I wouldn't. I seen something on killsometime.com where all these people on stage were hypnotised and started humping chairs! How embarrassing!

No. For one, I don't think it would work. Two, if it actually does work, I don't want to publicly make a fool of myself.
