I've had him for about six months but I just moved. He ate well before, but now he won't eat. We've been here about 1 month. My roomate's a smoker, does that have anything to do with it?

It could be as betta are air breathers. I'd be sure you aren't over feeding, and are cleaning the bowl enough. Check out the disease, and care sections at bettatalk.

I am not against smokers, but the nicotine will get in the fish's container. It can not be good for the fish. I am just saying that nicotine can get in places you wouldn't believe. And also, the moving can be another part of it too. Try offering him a variety of foods. My Betta book that was written by a marinist said; to offer Bettas shellfish, frozen peas (cooked & skinned),cooked spinach, lettuce and piece of raw potato without the skin. But DO NOT give them too much of the household foods, it wouldn't be good for them. The marinist also said, Bettas need a variety of foods to eat. He also said, that it is a good idea to fast your Betta once a week to help the digestive tract. I have 2 Bettas and I have been doing everything the book says, and my fish are so active and happy. They are a lot of enjoyment!! I hope your fish gets to doing better and can eat some of the things I listed. LOTS OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!

Moving fishes greatly stresses fish expecially shy fishes like bettas.Nicotine and carbon monoxide destroys fish cells and tar from smoke mixes with the water which clogs fish gills. If you cannot smell smoke then it would be okay. And to smokers ermm..... no offence ok?
