I always swim and scuba dive with my contacts in and have never lost one. I do carry a spare pair with me just in case, but so far haven't needed them. I open my eyes under water all the time. Just be sure to wash them a little extra when you get home. You never know what is in the water.

I believe that they could. I wear them too and I take showers with them and a bit of water has gotten in my eye before. It's never a big deal but If you are completely under water I think that the water could swipe it out. One time I went swimming with contacts in and I got pool water in my eye, I rubbed it so hard and a small piece of my contact tore off. My eye hurt for weeks until I figured out that it was because of the tear. I suggest using goggles unless your just taking a shower.

I wear soft lenses and opened my eyes underwater while I was swimming.
It was only for a couple of seconds but the contacts did not fall out.
I'm guessing the pressure of the water kept them in.

Yep, no difficulty with that. purely be careful jointly as wiping the water away out of your eyes (too harsh and that that they had slip out) and look at to not open your eyes under water and not utilising a masks on. they gained't harm your eyes until finally you're rubbing at them (yet it extremely is an comparable whether water is in touch or not!) I placed on contacts jointly as swimming all of the time (that is composed of indoors the sea) and that i've got not had any issues. Have an surprising time!

i do it often...it always takes a quick eyes open dunk until i can feel my contacts adjust. and then i open my eyes the rest of the time i'm swimming. of course, only in pools.
not sure if it's a good thing to do, but i haven't lost any contacts yet and i swim often in the summer (i still ALWAYS have a spare pair with me-and if i don't, i won't open my eyes just in case).

Probably not, but why would u wear your contacts 2 go swimming? And if u did, if u wore goggles, u wont have 2 worry about them coming off!

i dont know if theyll come out because i dont have contacts, but you shouldnt wear them in the water...especially if you plan to open your eyes. wearing goggles with contacts may be the only exception...ask your doctor for more info.

It depends on the brand/type. My old contacts would stay in very well when I was in the pool. However, my new ones do not stay in very well (one is for an astigmatism and so is more "floppy").
