Not unless you have to use them frequently. It's probably just a phobia. I'm afraid of heights (can't function when I'm high off the ground, unless in a building or plane), so I just avoid high places.
Seems like all you need to do is avoid trains. If you can't, you might get over your fear eventually. Seeing a pychiatrist might help, but be forewarned, that can get very expensive, very quickly.

Being scared of something is not bad. EVERYONE is scared of something ... Im scared of snakes LOL ... Anyhow your fear is only bad if it stops you from living life to the full. If you don't need to catch the train then I don't see a problem. If you want to travel around Europe by train then you might. Don't let your fears stop you from experiencing life. The difference between ordanairy and successful people is that successful people feel the fear and do it anyway. Try going on a train with a supportive friend.
Best of luck

Well lets see if you are scared of riding on trains or being near one. Anyway it is not BAD to be scared of trains, as you could chose other means of transport without much harm. But it would be GOOD if you could get over this fear, as every fear causes a limit for your soul, and some limits might be of some obstruction some day in your life. So without considering it as a BAD characteristic, simply try to find a way not to be scared of trains.

Not at all, there are a lot stranger phobias out there.
Papyrophobia a fear of paper
Anthophobia a fear of flowers, seriously flowers?
when you mean scared you probably don't mean i cover my eyes and run for the hills, but more like you get a really bad feeling in your stomach. Im sure its not so bad you cannot function, do you live near a train station or something.

Well you wont make a very good hobo that's for sure. Also getting out of the way of a train is a very good thing.
So nope, being afraid of trains doesn't seem to be bad.
Besides they're sceery. I'm the same way with buses. Oh man get me off this thing. It's a tin can doing 75 miles an hour with no seatbelts. wahhhhhhh.

I'm terrified of trains. Not so much riding in them, but getting killed under them. When I hear that screech ... dear God!
