To start with : I don't think you should mention the name of your friend on here.....we can try to answer your question just as well without knowing her name.
As to your question :
It probably is because YOU let her.
I've learned that the way people treat you, generates from the way YOU behave.
Your behavior must be such, that she feels she CAN, or maybe MUST, boss you around. (she may not even know that she's doing that, or she may see it completely different from you)
Did you ever talk to her about this?
Don't try to change HER, try to change YOUR behavior in a good way, enough to make her realise she doesn't have to boss you around.

Its because she thinks see's better than you. and you're a bit insecure. Tell her she's not the foxymoron she thinks she is. Go on assert yourself. If that dosen't work just pash Brett right in front of her. Good luck!
