I have always been a fan of the Green Lantern and have wanted to read the comics, but there seems to be so many types I never knew where to start. So, anybody, what should I start with and where should I go from there?

Grab one of DC's Green Lantern Archive Editions, like #3 or #4, to really see the stories that established Hal Jordan.

Unfortunately with all the recent do-overs (Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis etc) it's hard to pick a best starting point among the recent stuff- I suppose the introduction of Kyle Raymer is a good spot to begin.

I'd start with the current GL series. There are 2, Green Lantern (about Hal Jordan) and Green Lantern Corps (about the entire group of GL's protecting the universe).

Then as you get more interested, the GL that started in the early 90's is good to read. It's really broken into 2 parts. Issues 1-50 are about Hal Jordan, issues, 51-100+ (the end) are about Kyle Rayner. If you aren't really familiar with GL's (more than the basic concept) then, I would start with the Kyle Rayner issues. It's about a guy who learns what & how a GL operates.

The individual issues can be hard to find, but they might be published in "graphic novels" which are usually story arcs (6 stories) published as one book.

I would start in the 90's if i were you. It's just my personal taste, but i like crisp and clean looking comics. I like the art to be good and nice looking, not old. But thats just me

Definitely start with Geoff Johns' "Rebirth" storyline, available for $10 on Amazon. If you're looking for a more traditional storyline, "Emerald Dawn" is also a good starting point.
