I'm thinking about applying for a waitress job. However, I'm don't fit the stereotypical waitress mold. I'm kinda heavyset and I'm average height. I've never seen anyone like that working at any resturant. Do employers pick girls who fit the stereotypical mold of a waitress on purpose or do heavyset girls decide not to apply because they don't fit that mold? Would you make fun of a heavyset waitress?

What if a heavyset girl and a skinner girl had the same credentials on their applications, (or very, very close) who would the employer pick?

Yes, they choose bubbly, attractive girls or girls with a lot of experience. You'd have to have a really good interview to get the job. And no, I wouldn't make fun of a heavyset waitress, or any heavyset person for that matter.
And I'm sorry to say it but your tips won't be as good as a thin girl's unless you are just damn good at your job.

I think thire is certain types of people for certain jobs, but waitressing is one of those jobs that takes alot of patiance and understanding, as long as your not too big to fit down the walk way then you should be ok, ( no punn intended) also you should have a loving smile and personality that people can fall inlove with. I have seen heavyer women waitressing, so i don't.

most places want skinny people to work there because if heavy people work tere people think the food is fattening and if its a skinny person they waiting on them they tend to order more food. Its a mind game they play. You dont wanna be a waitress any way its hard and people are rude. BTW the prettiest girls are the ones who seat you.

The problem is, you just haven't found the right guy. Trust me, I went through the same exact thing. And if you notice, those "types" of girls never have one boyfriend for long. You will find a boy that loves you for being different and will only want to be with you. There is a guy out there who is sick of all girls being exactly the same, and let me tell you, he is worth waiting for.

It depends on the place. Some places go more on looks, it will bring some guys and girls back just to see the girl. Other places go on who has the more outgoing friendly personality more than they do looks!

its a sad fact of life...but try it, put your resume in at less mainstream restaurants, the nice employers will hire you for skills and not your image.
