No. Religous beliefs don't make someone a good leader.

anyone can lie about his beliefs because they are a personal thing. It is important that the person we elect to higher office have a history of morality and ethical behavior....Mr Bush did not hold much office before he was governor and was there one term...he was elected on the shirt tails of his father using the old man's political machine. he kept his office with the help of extremist political pundits and the fear he inspired in people.

I don't really think the president's belief's are any of our business.

I personally think I would hope he or she did believe in a higher power of some sort.

I would try hard not to let it color my views.

Many people have explained on "Answers" that athiests and agnostics can be equally compassionate to people.

Not necessarily. It is important that he or she is honest and fair. Intelligent is important as well. Not every moral person is a Christian as well as not every Christian is a moral person. He or she being a Christian is a plus for me but not what I necessarily vote for. I look for integrity, intelligence, and eloquence.

I don't think you should use Gods name for political gain. It usually turns into something like the crusades, the witch trials, or a Jihad.
The church needs to stop spending money on elections and start feeding the poor.

Yes.If a person do not recognize a Supreme Be it will be dificulty to follow natural law.Fundamental for the life,good life of persons.
It will be a reason for this leader to respect human been,because he is used to have respect in his/her insight in his/her inner life.
Like the waters of a fountain spreads a garden is similar a person who has beliefs.

As long as the President is competent enough to run a country well, religion doesn't matter. Just because you're a Christian, Catholic, etc. doesn't make you a good leader.

Nope! Not to me, it isn't.

I personally don't care what beliefs a person holds. I vote for a person because of their intended policies and what they stand for politically, not religiously, racially or anything else. Politics are about policy to me, not religion.

it is extreemly important to understand that there is a greater power than oneself. Understanding the concept of a higher power and developoing humulity is helful in developping a sence of responsibility. Use of your faith as a means of control and maintance of power is not a good thing in a president.
