I have ovarian cysts (I'm sorry to those of you who see my questions almost every night, I guess I'm obsessed with my medical problem...) and know they have been there for a long time. All the info I can find is on functional cysts, and was wondering if there is any way to tell what kind I have, without surgery to see? As far as I have researched, functional cysts go away on their own or with help of hormones. Obviously that has not worked, at least in the past 2 years. Anyone know of any medical website on what kind of treatment I may have to use, since birth control does not work at all for me?

If you want to try a natural remedy, there is formulas available for care of the uterus and ovaries. If you pop into your local health store and ask. If they don't know, then they usually have a book that they can look through. An alternative, natural remedy may well be worth a try since you've been putting up with this for two years now.

The difference between functional cysts and ovarian cysts is in size. Most cysts smaller than 2 inches in diameter are functional cysts.

Too may factors are involved in the treatment and outcome of ovarian cysts to name here; you should discuss this issue with your doctor. However, here is a reference for additional information from eMedicine Patient Education:
