Loyalty is sticking by someone or something. You can be loyal to a person but you can also be loyal to an idea. The subjects are loyal to their Prince. I am loyal to my beliefs in Jesus Christ. See? It means to believe in, to stand up for, to not waver but to always be true to the person or idea.
