I have a 15-year-old daughter who is about as addicted to myspace as I am to Yahoo! Answers. I would ground her for a week. WORSE than the grounding itself (to HER, anyway) would be for YOU to set up a myspace account in order to monitor what she is posting. I can't go into the specifics here about how to do it (I am lousy at explaining computer stuff), but, it can be done. Go to myspace.com and search around for the parental info. If she knows that YOU can see what she's doing, she'll be a lot less likely to do anything inappropriate - but be aware that if she is really clever (and devious), she can set up another account to try and dodge you. Put the computer in a main part of the house where you can walk around frequently while she is online. We have ours in the livingroom and this significantly cuts down on my daughter's privacy. We don't actively snoop, but she is aware that we could walk up behind her at any minute. DO IT. You're the grown-up here, it's your house, your computer, etc.
Good luck. Been there. OH - and while she is grounded? Put a password lock on the computer, otherwise she will try to sneak on every minute you aren't home.

I used to work for a day care and the policy there was if you HAD to use time-out then it should be one minute per year of age. So a 4 year old will be in time-out for 4 minutes. If you think about it at that age it will kill them. As for your 13 year old I would say one day per year of age. If he is really addicted to myspace like I am...It will KILL him and I gaurantee he will never post the "crap" on myspace again.

Knowing what type of crap would help in answering. But since I am aware that many adults are also using the site, I don't favor anyone that young having an account there. I would select any where from 3 weeks to 6 months or cancel the account.

Yeah, I would probably not let her onto myspace anymore (or at least heavily monitor it, as it seems you are doing). There are just so many dangerous situations that can arise when a child is not careful on myspace. Good luck!

Keep her off of myspace until she is mature enough to make the right decisions there. Young kids are usually don't realize the dangers of posting things on myspace. Its really dangerous. They'll post personal info (phone numbers and address) without realizing the dangers of posting that information.

you let a 13-year old have a myspace? Little kids get kidnapped from having a myspace.

If she's already been told not to do it, then take the computer away or put her computer in the living room or kitchen area.
That way she'll be more careful when she on line.

Another alternative would be cancel internet or have her pay for it
if she throws a temper tantrum!.
You need to let her know you're the boss not her.

idk why people are saying you have to be 14.. its not true. 15 and under you'll have a private profile and you need parent permission.

idk how long it should be for lol you're the mom not us. it really depends on what she was posting...
honestly i think you should just get rid of her myspace... stop it all before she gets sucked into "myspace-land"
