I mean it's like at one point in time, everything political just flopped around. I mean look at it, awhile ago democrats were the rednecks and were pro slavery and founded the KKK, today it's the exact opposite, today it's the republicans that are rednecks, I mean what happened, when did it all change, when did democrats become the heroes? I'm not Republican or Democrat, I'm just confused as hell. Can someone please answer that question, I just wanna know what happened to politics and when did this all hapen?

Well who ever is in power are the good guys and the one's out of power are the rednecks. You can track it back till the civil war. Linclon was a Republican and until the depression they ran things so the Democrats were the rednecks.

Then Roosevelt was elected and the Democrats slowly gained power. He started setting up a bunch of welfare handout programs which was continued all the way through Johnson. The democrats ran things for about 40 years until 1994, and the Republicans became the Rednecks.

The Republicans never were able to shake the redneck thing and have once again lost power so by next year they will officially become the Redneck party.

The Democrats co-opted some traditionally Republican positions and came out on top on the basis of that plus traditionally Democrat positions, which Republicans will have to someday co-opt in order to come out on top in some future election. The bottom line is that the People are not having the "party line" anymore. As independent voters, you and I are proof of that. I reserve my right to, and will vote for any party, as long as their vision and values are aligned with my own AND they haven't caused numerous domestic and foreign debacles in recent memory. The Democrats aren't necessarily heroes today because they're heroes, but because all the people who voted for them are demanding change. I demand change. I believe we'll get change. The ball is in the Democrats' court. The people who decided enough was enough are the heroes in my book, and if the Democrats create debacle after debacle, the Republicans could sway me. If the Democrats control EVERYTHING, that's a crisis, just as it was a crisis when the Republicans controlled everything... well I guess they do for a little while longer - I imagine they'll play nice to avoid being dragged over the coals. I favor some resistance in the legislative process. It keeps stupid and unnecessary laws from being passed.

Good question. In the 1950s, during the Civil Rights movement, the southern states wanted more control over laws they could pass involving civil rights without the federal government. JFK stepped in and desegrated the school and passed other laws. The Republican party, whos underlining goal is state power with a small federal government, was able to appeal to southern states, as well as there basis of race. Thats when the switch occurred.

It doesn't matter. Only today matters and it's a new day. Make it the best for everyone.
