Is the age difference too much for dating? 3 years

It could be legal, depending on where you are located. Personally, I don't have a problem with a 3 year age difference at those ages (assuming it is the girl that is 16 and the guy that is 19--the reverse isn't as appropriate) and I am an adult, not a kid who doesn't understand.
When I was 13 I dated a 16 year old... looking back it was probably not the most appropriate age difference in the world, but I was a very mature 13 year old and he was a not-as-mature 16 year old, although he was a perfect gentleman and the nicest guy--after my husband (of course!)--that I have ever known.
It really depends on the individuals in the situation. If the couple truly loves each other and isn't about to go off and get married (16/19 isn't so bad for dating, but ridiculous for getting married!), then it doesn't really hurt to let the relationship continue. In 5 years the difference between a 21 and 24 year old and in 30 years it is between a 46 and 49 year old, which NO ONE would blink an eye at.

Most states give a 3 year leeway after age 16. Which means that 16 and 19 can legally date or 17 and 20. A parent can say its statutory rape but it wouldn't hold in court because at 16 you can legally say its not rape or I agree to what we are doing. Morally I believe its ok just not any fun. Just remember there are a lot of differences between 16 and 19 that is if the parents of the 16 years old are actually parents for example they have and enforce a curfew. At 16 your still in school and at 19 you may be in college how fun is that? There are many other things to consider besides whats morally right or wrong when dating someone younger then you. What do you really have in common?

I know someone who is spending 12 years in prison for sleeping with a 15 year old. He was 18 at the time. Does that tell u to maybe stay away??? Just consider being friends for now......... even if u dont someone( like her parents ) could press charges and say u did. U might want to leave it alone another couple of years so nothing bad happens. Besides she is still in high school. U and her are on different roads. U may not see it right now but u are.

Actually it is legal because there is only three years difference.
Yes, I think it is appropriate, and if the girl is younger, entirely natural. The brain of a 16 year old girl and a 19 year old man are pretty well identical in terms of development and maturity.
If the boy is younger, it would probably work best if he was physically and mentally "grown up" for his age.

No its not a big difference at all, its perfectly normal. And yea for everyone saying its not legal, all 50 states have a 3 year leeway after 16 so it is legal. And for the people saying its sick and wrong, dont listen to them...my parents got married when my mom was 16 and my dad was 27...and 38 years later they are still very happily married.

Whether it's legal depends where you live and exactly what youre doing together.. But it's not a good idea at that stage of your life. The difference between a high schooler and college student (or someone working, if that's the case) is just too much. I would imagine it would also mean sneaking around behind the 16 yo's parent's backs, too--with good reason. Just not a good situation.
In just a little while a three year age difference won't mean a thing, but right now it means everything.

A 16 year old & a 19 year old is a huge differance at this point in your lives. 19 you should be entering the world on your own off to college, have a job, you you know adult stuff. Where as a 16 year old should be enjoying her sophmore or Jr year in high school, prom, football games you know teen stuff. The maturity diffrence is huge if you like her wait till she is out of high school and on her own too, then persue the relationship.

yup as long as they're not doing anything stupid. i mean , if the 16 year old acts mature for his/her age , then theres nothing wrong with it.
but consider this, if the 19 year old is serious about having a relationship with the 16 year old, then 2 years would not be that long to wait .
this is just my opinion.

yes it is, a 19 year old is probably holding down a job or going to college while a 16 year old is in high school. I used to date older men when I was a teen, turns out they just dated younger girls because they were immature and young girls are naive. If you really love someone that's that young, you can wait.

Not really...actually the law states that you can only be 3 years apart...so that is actually legal, for all of you that are saying it isn't. The includes all fifty states, too. I don't think it is a very big difference at all.
