Mine was only on short detachments during pregnancy, but got deployed when he was a newborn. I would rather have him gone during the pregnancy than miss the first smiles, crawling, etc.

If it is only a six or seven month deployment and he isn't that high of a rank he won't get to come back for the birth, but (I may be wrong here) I think if a deployment is longer than 1 year they can possibly be granted 5 to 10 days emergency leave. I believe it may depend on their job and where they are.

My heart goes out to you and all the other military wives having babies without your men there by your side I might be there with you in Feb (not sure yet) and the thought alone scares the **** out of me. I am due the end of May.

My husband was in the Army and he missed the birth of our first two children. The first one he was in Korea and didn't see her until she was 3 months old. And the second one he was in Iraq and she was 7 months when he saw her. They don't always get emergency leave when you need them too. Part of being in the military and part of being a military spouse.

That sounds really tuff to have to go through. Im lucky that I didnt have to go through that. But keep your favorite picture of him close to you always to help you when you are down. And be strong, you can do anything!! And even though he is not there with you, he is there in prayer and in your dreams to help you.
I wish you lots of luck in your pregnancy and birth, may your husband return home safely to you!!!

I was pregnant and my husband died. Does that count? There's no emergency leave for that.
