now is the perfect time to start... dont get the sippy cups with the real hard drinking spout.. get the rubber ones so that when she bites down on it she will get something out of it.. rather than chewing on it... with the harder spouts they tend to chew on it because they are teething... with the rubber ones... well they bite down and realize hey im getting something.. so its easier for them... hope this helped... zoe

You can start weaning any time you want. My son is 3 years old and still breastfeeding a couple times a day (no, I'm not crazy, he's special needs and his doctors recommend that if he still wants to nurse and it helps him feel better that we keep doing so) but started drinking from a regular cup when he was 4.5 months old.

You can put anything you want in a cup--with a sippy cup just make sure it will easily come out the holes. My son had trouble with sippy cups because they don't work the same way as bottles and breasts (that's part of his special needs thing).

Good Luck!

Ween her whenever she feels comfortable. To tell you the truth I had to switch my baby from breast feeding to formula due to health issues. Well when I tried the bottle on her she would not take it for days. I was feeding her at first with a syringe but it was not working out well for her or me. So i called my doctor and asked him what to do and he told me to try a sippy cup on her. She took it and she was 6 months old at the time.

the best advice i know to give u is to not put formula in her sippy cup only juice and water. this way when she is ready to ween she will not view the sippy cup as means for nourishment but thirst. and when she receives more nourishment from solids than her formula then u can start to ween. u want her to get enough to eat

You can try it now, but be prepared to try out various styles and brands of sippy cups to find one she likes drinking out of. Mix her formula in a bottle and then pour it in- she'll eventually get the hang of it and you won't have to worry about having a 2 year old with a bottle stuck in her mouth- that's not good for her teeth. Kudos on trying to get her weaned to a cup early!

start her with her juice in a sippy but keep her bottle for formula its usally around a year old when they like sippys full time because you can put regular milk in them and they feel like a big kid.

Yes you can put it in a cup, but are you sure your baby is ready to let go? 6 months is really early, I have heard 10-11 months. But you are the only one who can judge that. Good Luck

Getting your toddler off the bottle may not be easy — 20-month-olds are ready to put up a fight for what they want — but it's the best thing for him. Do it slowly, saving the bottles he most needs for comfort for last (usually these are the bedtime bottles). Then decrease the amount of milk in these bit by bit and substitute lots of snuggling.

In my opinion, you shouldn't, she is too young; my kids had their
bottle until they finally gave up (about 1 1/2 years).
What are you worried about? Her teeth? don't be.
