Improving your voice range can be done in formal singing lessons. This is of course in aid of a voice coach. But this is not very practical, especially if one is in great deal of becoming a total singer.
I think the best practical way one can improve your range is to do a lot of singing and a lot of listening to music. But before starting, you might want to check your current vocal range. You may check this in the piano (like what I did before). That is, if you can determine the correct notes are related to your voice. Going on, it's best to sing with karaoke. This is less boring and is more enjoyable. You won't even notice you're practicing or trying to enhance you range. Singing here is interpreted as something to be fun and recreational. Well, of course, you can do the tedious ways of vocalization every morning; I think this is imperative.
In choosing songs, choose the ones that fit your range first. Going further, try other songs which are higher/lower to your range to extend you vocal prowess.

First of all, You'll have to find out your actual range from an instrument like the piano. Then, try holding on firmly to the lowest and highest note. Gradually decrease or increase the tone. Do this regularly and there will be improvement in the range.

If you're serious about improving your range, start playing an instrument. Seriously. I play tenor sax and have found that after I've done a session of practice, I can reach notes I could never reach before. I'd suggest a lower instrument, like bass clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, etc. It's not like you need to play it well, or like anyone needs to know you even play at all. It's just to make your diaphram stronger (because I think that's what it does).

Vocalize daily to improve your range. Get a good voice teacher, too, if you can afford it.

start as low as you can and get as high as you can. each time you sing a high note, try to get to the net one. do this everday for 20-30 minutes. this will improve you range a little by little. good luck

practice your scales. if u can use a piano, start at middle C and slowly work your way up to the highest, most comfortable note possible. don't forget to sing from your diaphragm, and breathe properly. hope this helps.

you don't need a voice teacher. it helps to exercise your lungs a lot. go running every day, trust me helps a lot. don't drink a lot of cokes, because you might burp while singing. lol! im a singer, though not a professional one, i sing at my church and stuff, and staying active really does help with your voice. sing through your lungs, but not to breathy, and you'll have a good voice. if you really think your voice is really bad, you should see a voice teacher. (although most of them can't sing themselves!)
